Creating Jobs Through Innovation

According to Obama’s FY2011 Budget proposal released earlier this month, key investments for greater economic security and job creation are education, clean energy, infrastructure and innovation. An article in the Christian Science Monitor this week picks up on that last investment. Says the article,

Innovative entrepreneurialism has always been at the core of America. It may now be the best hope for the return of the country's self-confidence – or at the least, for simply putting Americans back to work.

At the heart of innovative entrepreneurialism are workers traditionally left out or overlooked in the labor market:

Many of the founders are immigrants, and their ranks are being expanded increasingly by women, minorities, and people over age 50.

As we struggle together to climb out of this economic mess, maybe the message is no longer “think big” but “think differently.”
