This panel of media critics considers a wide range of efforts taken by Republicans that impact women's rights and access to social supports: A compromised version of the Violence against Women Act approved by the House majority that leaves undocumented immigrants , Indian women on reservations and LGBT women unprotected; abortion rights assaults including vaginal probes; Wisconsin's repeal of a law allowing women to bring job discrimination suits in state courts, forcing them to slower federal courts instead; Personhood bills; cuts in Medicaid which will adversely affect women who represent the majority of the poor and the elderly among others. They also consider how the conservative media represents these issues and the needs of women.

This event is cohosted by the School of Communications and the Howard R. Marsh Center for the Study of Journalistic Performance. It is free and open to the public.
